About ChessModel

What is PGN?

Portable Game Notation (PGN) is the standard plain-text format for recording chess games - move lists like "1. e4 e5 2. Nf3" that any chess software can read.

How to use ChessModel

Copy a PGN, paste it above, and click Load Game. Then step through the moves with the navigation buttons, the arrow keys, or by clicking any move in the list.

Where can I get a PGN?

Chess platforms such as Chess.com and Lichess let you export your own games as PGN. You can also paste in PGN from a book, a database, or one written by hand.

What does ChessModel support?

Standard games and studies starting from a custom FEN position, full move-legality checking, and mainline replay. Comments and side variations in the PGN are not displayed in this version.
